Ahmed Rasel (b.1988, Barishal) is a visual storyteller. He completed his Master’s degree in Bengali Literature from the University of Dhaka (2013) with the dream of becoming a poet, before realizing that photography could better blend his poetic feelings with his inner vision.

He ended up earning a formal diploma in photography from Counter Foto-A Centre for Visual Arts. His quest for poetry led him to the realm of the visuals. He is also working as an adjunct faculty member of the same institute.

Rasel’s work presents contemporary socio-political issues intertwined with his personal experiences. Memory, collective memory, space, politics psychological state, environment, water bodies are some of the crucial motifs of his works.

His work has been published in Trouw, Private Magazine, F-stop magazine, The Daily Independent, and many other local and international platforms. His several projects exhibited internationally in photo festival and biennale. He was one of the finalists of the Samdani Art Award 2018 and one of the participants of the Young Subcontinent Project of Serendipity Arts Festival India in 2017.
